Her stepsister Ella is the most beautiful, popular girl in school and is dating Mattie’s secret longtime crush, Jake Kingston.
Tired of being left out and done with waiting for her own stupid fairy godmother to show up, Mattie decides to change her life. She’ll start by running for senior class president against wildly popular Jake.
Ella can keep her Prince Annoying. Mattie’s going to rule the school.
And no one, not even a cute and suddenly flirty Jake, is going to stop her.

Review:  I was hesitant to read this story thinking it would be another rehashing of the same old Cinderella story, but once I delved into the story, I really loved the characters.  I really connected with the main character Mattie and loved that she portrayed herself as the classic underdog loser from high school.  Her stepsister is the annoyingly perfect Ella who happens to be dating Mattie’s one true love.  I loved that Mattie was painfully awkward, hung out with the stereotypical loner type and didn’t care much about school.  If I didn’t know better I would think the author was talking about my high school life.  Although, I’m not tall, not artistic and well… you get the picture.  I think we all see ourselves as the ugly stepsister that no one likes or wants, but it was refreshing to see that instead of the “good” guy getting all the love Mattie finds out that love is all around her.  I really liked this book, and emotional blackmail aside, I can’t wait for the sequel.  I loved that Ella really didn’t care for the uber perfect Jake and was happier with the loner best friend.  I find it refreshing when characters play against stereotypes and this story is perfectly melded together.  Definitely a whimsical telling and fun read, you will enjoy it from beginning to end.  On a personal note to the author, gawrsnarf is my new favorite word!
